Braised Chard
A tasty way to serve Swiss Chard
2 bunches (12 to 16 ounces each) Swiss Chard (or Kale)
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/2 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes
Thoroughly wash the chard, drain well and give a coarse chop. In a saucepan, add olive oil, salt and onion. Sauté over medium-high heat for 3 minutes. Add the chard and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add garlic and continue cooking for 10 minutes or till tender. Add red pepper and cook an additional 1-2 minutes.
